What is KNX?
There is a growing demand for comfort and versatility in the management of heating, lighting and access control systems for a flat, a country house, as well as an office complex. At the same time, the efficient use of energy is becoming increasingly important. People want a comfortable, green and safe place to live and work, and this is where building automation comes in. However, greater convenience and safety along with lower power consumption can only be achieved through intelligent management and control of all engineering devices.
A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE KNX PROTOCOL
There is a growing demand for comfort and versatility in the management of heating, lighting and access control systems for a flat, a country house, as well as an office complex. At the same time, the efficient use of energy is becoming increasingly important. People want a comfortable, green and safe place to live and work, and this is where building automation comes in. However, greater convenience and safety along with lower power consumption can only be achieved through intelligent management and control of all engineering devices.
This is a real problem, since most automation systems involve a lot of wires fr om sensors and actuators to the automation electrical panel. For engineers and installers, this amount of wiring also means significant design and installation complexity and, as a result, an increased risk of fire and high costs. That's where KNX helps!
Building automation doesn't have to be complicated. This simply requires a system that can eliminate the problems of isolated devices by ensuring that all devices communicate in one common language. The type of device you want to use doesn't matter anymore. Do you want to control lighting, blinds, security systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, alarm and monitoring systems, interfaces for building maintenance and management systems, remote control, audio and video control, regulate energy consumption, etc. All these functions work through a single system. This is the principle of interaction. By combining all devices into one system, building management has become easier. All thanks to KNX.
KNX is the global standard for home and building automation. Regardless of the type of building (residential, commercial or industrial), the automation of heating, air conditioning and lighting systems is essential for energy efficiency, user comfort and safety. That's where KNX comes in. The KNX system allows all components of the automation system, regardless of the size of the object, to interact with each other, creating a dynamic building control system. With more than 500 KNX-compliant manufacturers and devices, the flexibility of the KNX smart home system and the choice of devices is unmatched.
WHERE CAN A KNX SYSTEM BE INSTALLED?
KNX system can be installed in almost any building or open space - fr om a small house to a large shopping center or industrial complex:
- Private property
- Residential premises (apartments, nursing homes, townhouses, etc.)
- Offices
- Market Squares
- Schools
- Casino
- Hospital facilities
- Shopping malls
- Public buildings and open spaces (government buildings, libraries, schools, etc.)
- Industrial enterprises and factories
- Etc.
COMPLETE SOLUTION
The ability to provide a comprehensive solution for the automation of all building engineering systems is one of the main advantages and benefits of the KNX protocol (bus technology that meets international standards with certified equipment). Therefore, when we talk about the integration of automation systems, we mean not only the KNX system, as an automation protocol with fully compatible automation devices fr om different manufacturers. KNX is a central bus system for building automation with the ability to integrate control applications.

KNX CABLE
White or green, also known as TP1 cable.
A special twisted pair cable is used for connection:
- Wisted pair cable has two twisted pairs of solid conductors with a foil shield and tinned copper drain wire in a green or white LSHF jacket.
- The cable has been tested and certified as suitable for use in KNX systems, has the KNX mark and is available in 100- or 250-meter rolls.
- The green cable is used for ALL wires on the KNX bus, while the white version is useful for running along skirting boards, etc. It is also useful for e.g. door communication wiring or anything that requires a KNX cable but is not a BUS device.
- You can use this cable for ALL installations unless you have special requirements that apply to one of the other cables.
KNX SYSTEM CONTROL
- KNX switches;
- mobile application;
- touchscreens;
- voice control.
MAIN TECHNICAL ADVANTAGES OF THE KNX PROTOCOL
HIGHEST PRODUCT QUALITY
Each device is tested by the association in accordance with European standards: ISO, ANSI, SAC, ASHRAE, CENELEC, CEN.

DECENTRALIZED SYSTEM
Decentralization is the absence of a single control center and the absence of a general system failure.
The system comes with separate modules and you don't have to pay for unnecessary features.
High operational reliability.

We all know that customers have high demands on the devices they want to use for their smart home or building. With KNX you can now say yes to their requests. For any request. Endless flexibility and personalization in customizing your automation project is no longer a dream. It's real with KNX. You can allow a wide range of devices to communicate with each other, even if they are from different manufacturers. KNX can even be integrated with other automation systems. So, the choice of products you want to use is up to you or your customers. No limits, only possibilities. KNX is the universal solution for any automation task.
